The Beatles’ White Album after the Fall

To some, the greatest pop album pressed so far. Certainly the times were marked by several high points, of which the album is simply one. Nonetheless, for those who experienced the heft and plainness of the double pressing, there was a sense of having effortlessly arrived at the center of the cosmos. That we ourselves were the piggies living piggy lives, or course, occurred to few of us.

The “White Album” was surely one of the great releases of the Sixties. As with all myths, the backside is darker, but ignoring the staging of the group, who surely did not understand they were literally being played by statist security forces, it is pleasant for many Amis, Euros, and Others to recall where they were when they first experienced the album.
